The housing market in San Diego is hot and remains an amazing value when you look up and down the California coastline. When you mix this in with historically low-interest rates and homes that are priced correctly…you end up with multiple offers and homes selling for over the asking price. With the market moving so quickly, I am constantly fielding questions about “when is the right time to sell” or "what are buyers looking for?" To address the top four “wish list” items my clients are looking for when house hunting, I have decided to share them below.
1 - An AMAZING Kitchen
With COVID still very present in our day-to-day, many people are spending more time cooking at home - some cooking every meal at home instead of opting for take-out or delivery. With home-cooked family dinners happening every night, the importance of having a gorgeous move-in ready kitchen has jumped to the top of most buyer's wish list.
2 - Gorgeous Office Spaces
Who else spent the last 5 months figuring out their best "work from home" spot or remodeling their home office?
Well, if you did, you're absolutely not alone! COVID has given us all the opportunity to evaluate our current homes, what we love about them, which may need some changes or upgrades, and how to make them even more fabulous! I am noticing that buyers have become more intimately aware of the importance of a great home office space especially as most companies are allowing flexibility for employees to work from home, possibly indefinitely. These gorgeous offices offer inspiration, passion, and beauty.
3 - AMAZING Backyards
We’re continuing our “what buyers are looking for” segment with an absolute must-have. An amazing backyard!
COVID-19 has put an emphasis on this, but it has always been towards the top of buyers lists in San Diego far before the pandemic. With our year-round sunshine and typical 75 degrees, a backyard will be enjoyed year-round but especially when we’re all spending so much more time at home.
4 - BRIGHT Natural Light + Gorgeous Lighting Fixtures
Over the past couple of weeks, we've shared 3 things buyers are currently looking for in San Diego, and today we share our 4th and final post!
At the beginning of our series, we noted that you would want to keep your eye on the final post because it may not be something you'd expect. Do you still have your guesses?
If you guessed natural light complimented by unique lighting fixtures you were correct!
The consistent conversations of figuring out the best "work from home" space or "homework/home-school" spot is now at the top of our minds more than ever. Often the type of lighting in a room can enhance your mood, productivity, and overall enjoyment of a home.
According to ArchDaily, "The amount and type of lighting directly affect concentration, appetite, mood, and many other aspects of daily life." With lighting subconsciously playing such a huge factor in our day-to-day life, it's no surprise it's at the top of buyer's lists right now!
